Finding Peace Within

It is that time of the year when I reflect on the deaths of two important people in my life, my best friend Brent and my grandmother who did a month apart from one another. There are things in life we will never understand, the death of a loved one, an illness, loss of a job, or the end of a relationship or marriage. We take these things personally, and we wonder if there was something more we could have done. We feel like we have let those around us down, or we question our self worth. Regardless of your personal beliefs, there has to be some reason we keep going even when we feel like we have hit the bottom. You may not understand or ever understand, and it is ok, because things happen for a reason.

The reality is this: our time on this planet is nothing more than a blink of an eye. Part of the human experience is life, death, happiness, and pain & suffering. Remember, someone is depending on you, someone loves you, someone needs you, and you matter. Whatever it takes, dig deep, push through it, and do not quit.

In the end, find peace within because you cannot control what other people do, and you can only control how you choose to deal with adversity. The pain you feel is temporary and things will get better. It may take a long time, but things can always be worse.
